Merit Badge Information

Each Scout is expected to maintain steady progress toward becoming an Eagle Scout.  This includes working on and earning merit badges.

Detailed below are the steps you should take to earn a merit badge.

1. Select a merit badge that interests you

2. Obtain and fill out a blue merit badge card. Have the Scoutmaster sign it.

3. Select and call the merit badge counselor (list of counselors) to get his/her initial directions and help on the requirements.

4. Obtain a copy of the merit badge pamphlet, read it, and complete the requirements. You are expected to meet the requirements as they are stated--no more, no less. You are expected to do exactly what is stated in the requirements. If it says "show or demonstrate", that is what you must do. Just telling isn't enough. The same thing holds true for such words as "make", "list", "in the field", and "collect", "identify", and "label".

5. Call the merit badge counselor for an appointment to pass off the requirements for the merit badge.

6. Take the completed, signed off blue merit badge card to the Advancement Chairman for entry into the troop records and he or she will get you merit badge emblem for you.
